CONGRATS CLASS OF 2014!!

WOW! Where has time gone, this year has seemed to go by extra fast!! I'm not sure if it's that I enjoyed this class so much and had such a blast on every session or what but it feels like not to long ago I was treating my 2014 Senior Models to a yacht party. Which was AWESOME!!! :)) I just wanted to give a huge Congratulations shout out to each student in the 2014 Graduating Class! How exciting :)) Good luck to those of you going on to college, those of you who are jumping right into the working field and to those of you who have know idea what you're doing..trust me you're not the only one. Once again Congratulations to the 2014 Graduating Class of Grove High School!!! YOU DID IT!!
Memorial Day 2015

Sorry if you're a crier because this video may make you cry, I just had to share it. It's so easy to forget what Memorial Day is really about and who we should be thinking of and honoring during that day! I know personally that living by the lake and it being considered the "opening weekend" for lake season it's hard to really focus on what the day stands for. And to actually take time to honor those who have died fighting for our country!!

What to bring to your Senior Portrait Session at Photography by Katherine...

"What do I wear? What do I bring? How should I do my hair? Do I need different shoes? Should I bring extra makeup? Can I bring my football and baseball equipment?"

Ok, everyone take a deep breath with me! :) Ahhhhhh... much better!! I know Senior Portraits or any kind of Portrait Session can seem a little stressful or nerve racking but we don't wait it to be. We want you to feel comfortable and relaxed during your session with us. So I'm going to try to help a little with that before you actually get to the studio by giving you a few examples on what to wear and bring with you to your session.

Ladies: Don't freak out if you can't find the perfect outfits for your session. YOU'RE BEAUTIFUL! Your clothes aren't going to be what's gorgeous in your portraits, you are! Okay, glad we got that clear ;) Now first thing is first get your beauty rest. No one wants those stubborn bags under their eyes on their senior portrait day!
Makeup: I usually recommend doing your makeup just like you would do any other day. With that being said don't be afraid to go over your mascara a few more times or put on a little heavier eye shadow. What I mean by sticking to your everyday makeup is, don't try bright green eye shadow because you heard it will bring out your eyes if you've never actually tried it. Save the experiments for a different day :) Lip stick is always fun in portraits but if you don't feel comfortable in lip stick or it's just not your thing, try a nice clear gloss just to keep your lips from looking chapped in your portraits. Also, go ahead and bring your makeup with you for some touch ups right before and during your session.
Outfits: Bring outfits that you are most comfortable in and make you feel fierce!! ;) Skirts, shorts, pants, dresses we love it all. If you only are allowed say 3 outfit changes in your session does mean thats all you can bring. Go ahead and bring 5 outfits and we will help you narrow some out! Also, try not to bring all of the same color. Its fun to mix it up and bring out your personality through your clothes!! Oh, and don't forget that strapless bra for the dress you bring, or undershirts if you need them!
Shoes: I LOVE SHOES! Heels girls if you have them, bring them!! Us women just tend to carry ourselves differently in heels and they rock in portraits. I also love boots and flats but please, please, please bring at least one pair of heels if you have them!
Accessories: A girls best friend!!! Don't forget to bring different necklaces to go with different outfits or your favorite earrings. Only accessory I don't allow is a hair tie around your wrist. Leave those at home ;)) Accessories don't have to be only jewelry either. Anything you have that you want to accessorize your portraits with go on and bring it! If that may be your softball bat, letterman jacket, pom poms, flute, or pet dolphin BRING IT!!! :) (If you bring a pet dolphin you'd be the coolest person I ever met) Really if you do bring your pet please have someone there to take them when were finished photographing you two so we can keep on keepin' on :))

Gentlemen: I know most of you are just so thrilled your mother is making you do this. Trust me, it'll be just fine! 100% of the Senior guys that leave after their session say "It wasn't that bad"...only because they are too cool to say how much fun they really had!!! Okay down to business, if you are going to get a hair cut before your session, go a few days in advance. Unless you like your hair right after its cut because in that case go the morning of :) Also the day of your session take a shower, if you shower and shave, if you shave! ;))
Outfits: Bring more than one shirt!!!! Okay, I know you men don't like changing a lot but please don't only bring that one shirt you wear every other day. Try to not bring all the same color either, maybe bring one blue plain shirt and then a green button up, just mix it up! :) Remember who really wants these portraits...your mom, step mom, grandmother, aunt, and maybe even your dad, so don't be afraid to bring one outfit that will surprise them all. Wear those kakis you haven't wore since you bought them and bring a nice shirt to tuck in. With that being said we do want you to be comfortable also but You will HANDSOME I promise!!!
Shoes: You can bring more than one pair of tennis shoes ya know! ;) Bring some shoes that will go with those nice kakis!!! Oh yeahhh!!
Accessories: Men can accessorize too! Bring your letterman jacket, favorite hat, watch, football, baseball bats, guitar, skateboard, pet elephant, whatever you have that you want to be in your senior portraits with you, bring it! Don't forget a belt if your pants are little too big :)) Oh and if you bring your elephant bring a leash and someone to watch him when were done!!!

YAY! NOW EVERYONE'S EXCITED RIGHT?!?! GOOD BECAUSE I AM :))

MEET SHANNA!
Grove 2014 Senior

I've gotten the chance to get to know Shanna really well this past year and ohhh what a sweet, loving, and happy girl! She is one of those people who will always turn your frown upside down :) especially mine and I am so thankful for that! Not only is she an awesome person, she is BEAUTIFUL!!! This portrait was taken in an old abandoned home where Shanna was not afraid at all where she was stepping or laying down(way too close to broken glass for me)..what a trooper! We did a second session with Shanna and you seriously wouldn't even be able to tell how cold it was outside. She did awesome!! I wish you the best of luck with college and REALLY, REALLY, REALLY hope you come back and see me.

Be sure to visit our Facebook Page to see more portraits of the gorgeous Shanna.
